With three stars in the RVF Guide and a reputation that’s hard to rival, Yves Canarelli oversees some of Corsica’s most exceptional terroirs. Since his first vintage in 1997, he’s been a relentless perfectionist, constantly pushing boundaries. Farming nearly 40 hectares biodynamically across Figari and Bonifacio, he focuses on native grape varieties, selecting those that best express the character of the land.

Canarelli’s wines are among the most stunning grand crus of the Mediterranean, offering a unique combination of freshness and a distinct saline edge. These are benchmark Corsican wines that continue to set the standard for the region.

The 2023 White Amphora is a 100% Vermentinu from granite-rich parcels, vinified in clay amphorae without added sulphur. To preserve the purity of the grape, there’s no skin maceration, allowing its natural character to shine. The nose offers delicate notes of syrupy pear, enhanced by the subtle influence of the lees. On the palate, it’s remarkably smooth and balanced, with a clean, precise finish. This is a versatile wine, perfect with grilled fish, and it will develop beautifully over the next three to five years. Rated 92/100 by the Selection Committee.

The 2022 red Amphora is a vibrant blend of Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, Minustellu, Carcaghjolu, and Moresconu, vinified in a clay amphora. The wine is fresh and beautifully aromatic, with notes of black fruits, spices, and violet. On the palate, it reveals a tightly woven structure, full of energy and depth, supported by supple tannins and a striking intensity. A powerful yet balanced wine, it’s a testament to the potential of these Corsican varieties. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

The 2020 Red Corse Figari Alta Rocca is a pure expression of Sciaccarellu, showcasing remarkable precision and elegance. Pale in colour and delicately infused in style, it reveals aromas of dried rose petals and exotic spices. On the palate, it’s fresh and silky, with precise red fruit notes complemented by a subtle touch of oak. The tannins are beautifully structured and will continue to gain finesse with time, adding further complexity. This is an exceptional wine, celebrated for its vibrant and approachable character. Rated 94-95/100 by the Selection Committee.
