Wine:
Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Engelberg 2008 is juicy. It is a marvellous expression of the intensity of this major grape variety. The "grand cru" dimension naturally comes in. On the palate the wine expresses candied ginger, the delicacy of the aroma and the violence of the spice. The wine's great length and reach adds to the tasting enjoyment. A great dining moment.Vinification:
Organically grown, harvested at maturity, minimim intervention during vinification.Color:
Golden, bright colourNose:
Great purity on the nose, dominated by aromas of exotic fruits and flowers such as honeysuckle and rose.Palate:
Solid on the palate, sitting on a mineral structure. The finish, typical of the grape variety, is somewhere between smokiness and green almond.
Temperature:
Serve between 9 and 11°CFood and wine pairing:
Fish, asian cuisine, etcCellar aging:
Enjoy up to and including 2023"Organic" at heart, Jean-Marie Bechtold is an avid fan of soils and living things. As far as he is concerned, natural products have long replaced chemical fertilizers. He ensures that he understands the needs of his vineyard and in his quest for "the most authentic expression", he composes a suitable mode of viticulture for each parcel. The delicacy of his grands crus is a perfectly, clear reading of the terroirs and the spirit of the winemaker.
