Wine:

The 2018 Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5 Año is a stunning example of Vega Sicilia's craftsmanship, offering impeccable balance and finesse. In this cooler vintage, the wine reveals a fresh perspective, with 96% Tinto Fino beautifully refined through its time in barrels. The subtle spiciness adds depth, drawing comparisons to the Unico, while the bright freshness and elegance shine through. A brilliant wine, rated 96/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Aged for 5 years. In the first year, 75% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels and 25% in American oak. In the second year, the wine is aged in foudre, allowing it to develop more subtle, precise aromatic complexity and homogeneity.

A true icon in the world of wine, Vega Sicilia’s strength comes from its unique terroir and the dedication of the Alvarez family, making it one of the most coveted estates among wine lovers worldwide.

These lands, nourished by the Duero River and shaped by an austere climate and expert hands, produce one of the greatest treasures in global viticulture. The Alvarez family has created a timeless legacy, connecting the earth, time, and craftsmanship.

What sets these wines among the elite is their uncompromising attention to detail: the barrels are handcrafted on the estate using their own techniques, and the aging process is exceptionally long, with some cuvées requiring up to 10 years before release. An unwavering commitment to excellence.
