Wine:
The 2021 Red Saint-Joseph Silice reveals all the fruit and appetite of a beautiful, fragrant, and crisp Syrah. The 30-year-old vines and the adjusted aging in barrels and 600 liters offer a complete reading of the grape variety and of the appellation; the lovely fruit, the hints of smoke, and the spices are all that one expects in a very pleasant, full-bodied wine. A quintessential Syrah that will quickly find its full expression today and over the next 5 to 6 years.Vinification:
Hand harvested, 100% de-stemmed, plots on steep hillsides so no mechanization possible, manual viticultural work. Cold pre-fermentation maceration, fermentation in open vats for 15 to 18 days with 2 daily punchings of the cap, aged for 12 months in oak barrels (pièces and demi-muids).Color:
Red violet of beautiful intensity.Nose:
Very typical Syrah, marked by aromas of black fruits with haloed and spicy notes.Palate:
Full-bodied and fresh, wildly fruity, with delicate and polished tannins.
Temperature:
Serve between 16 and 18°C.Food and wine pairing:
Braised meats, lamb chops with Provence herbs, Tandoori chicken, roasted duck and melting potatoes.Cellar aging:
From now until 2029.Star of the Saint-Joseph appellation, Jérôme Coursodon models his appellation with unbridled energy. Master of his subject, served by the most beautiful terroirs, he gets the best out of them with incredible precision. From this meticulous work are born beautifully fruity wines, judiciously matured with little new wood. Sought-after labels that delight wine lovers everywhere.
